Trigger Happy Inspector Ubi Ebri Dismissed From NPF, Arraigned For Prosecution

Barely two weeks after he reportedIy shot to death a businessman Onyeka Ibe, Inspector Ubi Ebri attached to Area Command Patrol Team, Delta Police Command, Asaba has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force and subsequently charged to court for prosecution.

He was on Wednesday arraigned before Asaba Magistrate Court on remand proceedings while the case file has been forwarded to the Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and prosecution of the suspect.

The Inspector had reportedIy shot Ibe for inability to part with some money
while the police team was on stop and search duty along Ugbolu-Illah road on 5th April, 2023.

Following public’s reaction to the gruesome murder, authorities of Delta Police Command vowed to ensure that justice prevailed and as such, the said Inspector has been dismissed from the Nigeria Police Force after the conclusion of Orderly Room Trial at the State Headquarters.

The Magistrate Court has ordered that the suspect be remanded at the Ogwashi-Uku Correctional center while the case file be sent to Director of Public Prosecution (DPP) for legal advice and prosecution of the suspect by the office of the DPP.

Meanwhile, the Delta Police Command in a statement on Wednesday has tasked officers and men of the Police Force to uphold the tenets of professional policing in the discharge of their duties with respect to fundamental

human rights of all citizens in line with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution of the Federal Republic of Nigeria (as amended), while hoping that this will serve as a deterrent to others officers.
