(OPINION)

Dr.(Mrs) Marian Ali

By Charles Nwabardi

In Delta State particularly in her Delta North Senatorial District
Dr (Mrs.) Marian Nneamaka Ali is a household name. She is also known beyond the shores of the State as over the years, she has distinguished herself as a Nigerian of repute.

She is a highly respected daughter of Ahaba (Asaba) the Delta State capital hence she rightly earned the conferment of the high chieftaincy title, Enyikpakpando 1 of Asaba in 2006 on her by the Asaba monarch. The conferment ostensibly confirms her pride of place in her aboriginal community.

Trained in Medicine, Marian Ali is a Specialist with vast knowledge in Endocrinology. She is certified in Medicine, Endocrinology, Diabetes Metabolism including the treatments and procedures of Adrenal tumours among other things.

She is married to retired Col.(Dr). Ahmadu Ali; now an Octogenarian, a medical expert, retired military officer and former pioneer Chairman of the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).

Marian has been in politics with great passion to serve her people in order to bring succour to their lives. She has served nationally and internationally but still eager to bring her wealth of experience back home. This has been her focal point and zeal. Her leaving PDP to All Progressives Congress (APC) was hinged on her determination to find a space that would help her actualize her aspiration of being in the Senate. Due to certain occurrences, her ambition could not be actualised under APC. Not one to give up, she has finally found a springboard and enabling space in the New Nigeria People’s Party (NNPP) to launch into the Red Chambers come the February 2023 election.

As a candidate to represent Delta North Senatorial District under NNPP, Mrs. Ali has what it takes. She has brilliance, intelligence, humility, honesty, zeal to serve, innovative spiritband strength to strength of character. Ali has held the position of Chairman of the Nigerian Shippers Council (NSC). One could recall her statement during her inauguration as the Chairman. She had canvassed for a review of the Council’s 31-year old law to enable it respond more to issues in the dispensation of private sector port system.

In her words, “The new Board will device a means of a more effective partnership with other agencies so as to facilitate the performance of its role.” What an innovative stance!

With good education and years of social interaction in the governance space, Dr. Ali has remained a focussed woman that understands the philosophy of staying on until one’s vision is realized. She sees circumstances caused by hurdles as way of life and believes that without scaling through hurdles no one gets to where he or she aspires to be.

In this era of preparing to go to the polls for the 2023 elections, she is more consumed to serve her Delta North people in the Senate. She deserves Delta North people’s “followership”, support and votes.

Her ticket from NNPP is a golden opportunity for Anioma people to have a woman in the Senate. The people of Anioma should break the status- quo of men, men all the time, with the Enyikpakpando 1 and Nne of Anioma for a new spice of representation that will attract infrastructure, social amenities, equity and empowerment.

It is not of argument Dr. Marian Nneamaka Ali is a woman that has impeccable record both in character and in service. Attesting to this,
a known Deltan, Dr. Aniforo Mallam- Obi, former PDP Chairman, Delta State once described her in these words, “Dr.(Mrs.) Nneamaka Ali, a true mother worthy of emulation”. Similarly on the day of her conferment with the Chieftaincy title of “Enyikpakpando Ahaba” Daily Champion newspaper described her as woman of honour.

The stainless records of Ali is unbeatable as she has never in her life been mentioned in either any suspected criminal activity or other vices even before she came into the public and political limelight.

What else? NNPP is therefore a lucky Party that has a sellable Senatorial Candidate in the person of Dr. Ali among other Candidates in Delta North because at last the Party has definitely become the fulcrum for Marian’s fulfilled dream. It has therefore become expedient to call on the legible voters of the nine Local Governments that make up Delta North Senatorial District to cash in on this golden opportunity by voting Enyikpakpando for Senate in order to feel a true representation of a worthy daughter.
