Be Good Ambassadors of NSCDC, Anambra Boss Tasks Female Squad

The Nigeria Security and Civil Defence Corps (NSCDC) Anambra State Command on Friday commissioned its special female Squad at a ceremony held at the State Command Headquarters Awka.

In his address at the passing out ceremony, the State Commandant of the Corps, Mr. Everestus Chimezie Obiyo, said the Special Squad which consists of 50 personnel were commissioned sequel to the directives of the Commandant General of the Corps, Dr. Ahmed towards enforcing the Safe School Initiative of the Federal Government and to protect Critical National Assets in and around the State.

Commandant Obiyo expressed his delight with the efforts made by the current Commandant General of NSCDC aimed at boasting the capacity of the service to curtail insecurity and insurgency in Nigeria which had continued to yield the desired objectives.

He charged the squad to discharge their duties with extra commitment and wisdom to sumount the arduous task ahead.

According him , the six months of rigorous training was designed to prepare the Squad for a challenging but a rewarding task ahead. He therefore congratulated them for their resilience to withstand the training, charging them to take advantage of the knowledge and skill acquired from the internal security module, to safeguard lives and properties wherever and whenever they were deployed .

Obiyo reminded the Squad of their civic responsibility and to resist the temptation to act unjustly to civilians, uphold the highest level of discipline and display professionalism in the discharge of their statuory duties.

Earlier, the Assistant Commandant General in charge of Zone K , Awka, ACG Felix Oke congratulated the Female Squad for successfully completing their training. He exhorted them to follow and respect the rules of engagement, avoid accidental discharge and strive to maintain law and order.

He warned them, as Civil defenders to respect fundamental human rights ,be resolute and give total loyalty to the Nation and the Corps. He encouraged the female Squad to toe the line of honour and shun acts capable of tarnishing the image of the Corps.

In his vote of thanks, *DCC Osilem Alex, the Head of Training Department said the membership of the squad was drawn from personnel across the Divisional Offices of the State . He revealed that the Squad who were trained for six months were taken through various topics such as tips to rescue Operations, Practical Civil Defence duties, defence and safety skills, musketry, foot and arms drill and unarmed physical combat techniques .

DSC Ngozi Okoye ,the Commander of the female Squad , urged the public to always alert the squad, without delay ,when confronted with any security challenge. She pledged to give in their best to the Corps and the Nation at large.
