With a few days to the 2023 general elections, a newly founded political pressure group known as ‘Unique Ladies in Politics’ at Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State has vowed to support and vote for only candidates with genuine plans to uplift women and youths in the community.

Speaking with AtlanticNewsonline on Sunday at Ubulu-Uku, the executive committee (Exco) members led by President of the group Mrs. Rosemary Obahor (nee Obokoh) pointed out that in previous times, women in Ubulu-Uku have often been neglected by politicians soon after winning election.

The Exco noted that most politicians across the various political parties during their electioneering campaigns have often promised to extend dividends of democracy to the womenfolk but no sooner had they won the election and settled down than such politicians reneged on such promises.

The group President explained that even though as individuals, members of Unique Ladies in Politics’ have the candidates they will vote for, the group as a body is non-partisan but ready to support candidates of any party with credible conduct and genuine plans to uplift the womenfolk.

According to her, women constitute a very large percentage of the voting population in Ubulu-Uku town and would no longer sit idle to watch politicians toy with their destiny.

Other members of the group’s Exco include Mrs. Francisca Okwuokei (Vice President), Mrs. Patricia Ojeih (Secretary), Mrs. Helen Ebube (Public Relations Officer) and Mrs. Ijebusomma Okoh (Mother of the House).

AtlanticNewsonline gathered that with this latest stance of Unique Ladies in Politics, a good number of candidates across

different political parties seeking votes in the area are eager to hold meetings with the group before the elections begin.
