A former presidential aspirant on the platform of the All Progressives Congress (APC) and founder of The Citidal Global Community Church, Pastor Tunde Bakare has strongly condemned a trending publication in the social media credited to him, as having endorsed the candidacy of the APC Presidential Candidate Bola Ahmed Tinubu.

In a statement personally signed by him at the weekend, Bakare who has been a member of the ruling APC said his attention had been drawn to the publication in some sections of the social media wherein he was quoted as having opposed the stand of the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN) with respect to the choice of a Muslim as Tinubu’s running mate.

In the said trending publication, Bakare was alleged to have said that CAN wanted to lure the APC presidential candidate into choosing a weak running mate.

According to him, “as if the poorly strewn lies were not enough, I was quoted as saying that Tinubu is my candidate. Isn’t it this same Tinubu that I announced to all and sundry at the APC Presidential convention that I was not stepping down for? Has he suddenly become my candidate?”

Disassociating himself from the said publication, the gospel preacher said; “I wish to state unequivocally that the statements are absolute lies. There was no where I granted anyone any interview or preached on any platform where I made the ludicrous statements. I challenge anyone who is in possession of video or audio file of the statements to please put it in the public space.

“For the avoidance of doubt, I am a nation builder who will not in any way create real or imaginary division among people of our great country through the medium of political parties or religion.”

The Citidal Global Community Church Pastor has therefore asked everyone to disregard the alleged statements saying that “the statements are not mine and do not in any way represent my position. This is part of the lie propaganda of the mischievous ones seeking approval by deceit and at all costs.”

The gospel preacher politician in the statement warned the peddlers of the false information to desist
from such deliberate falsehood or be made to face legal action.
