Sequel to the suspension of Nigeria’s Central Bank Governor, Godwin Emefiele last week from office by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu
and his subsequent arrest by the Department of State Service (DSS), the President on
Wednesday approved the indefinite suspension of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa as the
Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC).
The Director of Information, (Willie Bassey) in the Office of Secretary to the Federal
Government in a statement on Wednesday said the suspension was to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office.
The statement added that “this follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him.”
Subsequently, Mr. Bawa has been directed to immediately handover the affairs of his office
to the Director, Operations in the Commission, who will oversee the affairs of
the Office of the Chairman of the Commission pending the conclusion of the investigation.
