Petroleum University Holds Third Convocation Ceremony Next Week

Activities marking the third convocation ceremony of the Federal University of Petroleum Resources (FUPRE) Effurun, Delta State would commence on Monday June 13, 2022 with a pre-convocation press briefing by the Vice Chancellor Prof. Rim-Rukeh Akpofure at the institution’s Senate Chambers.

According to information to the 2018/2019 and 2019/2020 graduands of the University, the award of first degrees, postgraduate diplomas, higher degrees and conferment of honorary degrees would take place on Saturday June 18, 2020 at the convocation arena.

However, prior to the Saturday events, there would be the installation of FUPRE Chancellor; His Royal Majesty Oba Babatunde Adewale Ajayi, Torungbuwa II, Akarigbo & Paramount Ruler of Remoland and commissioning of completed projects in the school on Friday June 17, 2020.

Same day, there would be convocation lecture titled “DEFINING THE VALUE OF LOCAL CONTENT IN PETROLEUM EDUCATION.” It will be delivered by Engr. Simbi Kesiye Wabote, Executive Secretary, Nigerian Content Development and Monitoring Board at the University auditorium.

The Federal University of Petroleum Resources Effurun which was established in 2007 by the Olusegun Obasanjo’s administration is Africa’s first

petroleum university and sixth in the world. According to the founders of the institution, its vision is to be the premier institution with state of the art

facilities to provide for the petroleum and allied sectors, world class education, training, research, consultancy and extension services.
