The philanthropic gesture of Dr.(Mrs) Doris Ochei across the nooks and cranny of Anioma land came on the horizon once again, as she donated a multi-million Naira market to Onicha Olona community in Aniocha North Local Government Area of Delta State.
This is just as she empowered 89 market women with N50,000 each to enhance their trading activities.
Unveiling the ultra modern market on Easter Monday, Ochei, a forensic accounting expert stated that the donation of the market was a way of empowering her people.
The Ubulu Uku born Doris Ochei is married to General Raymond Ochei, a notable son Onicha Olona currently serving in the Nigerian Army.
With the donation of the market on the auspice of our Foundation; ‘Dr. Doris Amaka Ochei Foundation,’ the philanthropist has set a good example for other Anioma Foundations to look back home and touch the lives of the people of their community.
She had equally executed similar project at her home town where she built over 20 borehole water system, scholarships, empowerment of traders with money amongst other developmental initiatives.
Speaking at the commissioning, Her Royal Majesty (Obi) Dr. Martha Dunkwu, the Omu of Anioma applauded Dr Doris Ochei.
The Omu who was Special Guest of Honour at the event performed the necessary rites and prayers and upon the unveiling of the plaque.
There were shouts of joy and happiness in the land, signaling the traditional commencement of the market activities by sellers and buyers.
As Omu noted in her speech, it is difficult to find the type of Mrs. Ochei who would rebuild a market and then hand it back to the Council.
