Nurses And Midwives Association Honours Kanu

The National Association of Nigeria Nurses and Midwives (NANNM) on Saturday honoured Dr. Iyke Kanu with a Special Recognition Award during its 2021 Annual FCT Nurses Week/Scientific Workshop held inside the auspicious Abuja International Conference Centre.

The NANNM weeklong workshop with the theme: A Voice to lead, a vision for future Healthcare, came to a crescendo with the award dinner under the chairmanship of Comrade Ayuba Wabba the Nigeria Labour Congress and ITUC Global President who was ably represented by Comrade Olusegun Rotimi, while the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Boss Mustapha was the Special Guest of Honour.

The Association is the umbrella body for all the registered nurses and midwives across the country.

During her speech, NANNM President, Comrade Deborah Yusuf, noted that Dr. Kanu was being honoured as an accomplished businessman and a professional who has made significant contributions and outstanding achievement to support, promote, improve and enhance the quality of life of Nigerians.

Dr. Kanu, Chairman of Icecos Energy Holdings Limited, an Oil and Gas concern, equally sits atop the breath-taking luxury Golden Tulip Grand Palazzo Hotel, Owerri, amongst other blue chip conglomerates.

He has an unquenchable thirst for charity and his boundless philanthropic gestures cut across religious and ethnic divides. Little wonder the Igbo born business mogul was being decorated with this honour.

Dr. Kanu who is also the Chairman of Classic International Magazine dedicated the award to God almighty first, for the grace of life and sustenance, and secondly, to healthcare sector of the economy, including the nurses, wid-wives, doctors, etc for their dedication to service especially at this trying time of Covid-19 pandemic; told newsmen that the essence of life is to give and touch lives, support the course of humanity.
