The Director General, Delta State Capital Territory Development Agency (DSCTDA), Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi Mrakpor has charged the leadership of the Anioma Youth Forum, Worldwide to champion a strong war against the decline in morals and values within the rank of Anioma youths.

She gave the charge when a delegation of the Forum led by its National President, Comrade Nnamdi Ofonye held a consultative meeting with her in her office in Asaba on Monday.

The former Federal and State lawmaker noted that the manner in which youths attack, smear and diminish the image and personality of prominent Anioma community, traditional and political leaders was against the cultural and traditional upbringing of the Aniomas, a trait that had held the ethnic nationality very high across the world.

She identified partisan inclination as one of the causes of the ugly trend and regretted that constructive criticism has taken flight while destructive and smear campaigns have become the new way of life against what it used to be, stressing that such was the reason for the perceived disconnect between the elites and the youths as witnessed in most quarters in contemporary time.

Promising to give all necessary support to see to the growth of AYF-W in the overall interest of Anioma, the Mountain of Fire Ministry Pastor commended the leadership of the umbrella Anioma youth body for its vision and efforts in mobilizing Anioma youths to be able to stand shoulder to shoulder among its peers in the comity of ethnic nationality youth bodies across the state and country at large.

She called for serious sensitization programmes to be initiated and sustained with a view to reorienting the youths and inculcating in them the almost lost values and respect for elders which she said was alien to the Anioma people.

Earlier in his address, Nnamdi Ofonye informed her that the visit was in continuation of their consultation with all Anioma critical leaders and stakeholders on the need to champion the rapid development of Anioma land and its people.

He posited that while it was healthy for everybody to belong to different political parties of their choice and pursue their political ambitions, the growth and development of the zone through good governance and effective representation was non negotiable to AYF-W.
