The Prelate, Triumph College of Bishops, Archbishop (Dr) Bayo Adejola on Saturday made a significant explanation between love and submission in marriage as scripturally instructed.

The gospel preacher said that God who initiated and founded the institution of marriage commands men (husbands) to be the ones to promote love in their marriage while women are commanded to submit themselves to the authority of their husbands as enshrined in the Bible.

He made this clarification at the solemnisation of marriage between a Lagos business man, Mr. Anthony Chukwuemeka Nzewuihe and Miss Clarion Ngozi Chukwuemeka at the Land of Grace Healing Ministries (a.k.a. Cry No More) in Lagos. The bride is daughter of the General Overseer of Land of Grace, Bishop (Dr) Chukwuemeka Odigbo.

The Prelate who led other gospel preachers from different Pentecostal churches to the wedding, in his sermon explained that by commanding husbands to love their wives, God expects every married man to take the responsibility of providing for the needs of their wives materially, emotionally and otherwise.

According to him, “when a man is in love, he takes the responsibility of caring for the wife’s needs. Man is supposed to pay the bills of his wife. Regrettably, in contemporary time, many men are looking forward to marrying women who will take care of their (men) needs.”.

The man of God condemned this role reversal by some men just as he condemned the attitude of women who have chosen to promote equality in marital relationship instead of absolutely submitting to their husbands as ordained by God.

In the Archbishop’s words, “men are not commanded to submit to their wives. To submit means the wives must cooperate with their husbands and support them in building their home.”

He however expressed dismay over the attitude of some global bodies that are promoting gender equality that stands at variance with what God has commanded in the scripture.

He charged men and women to continuously work towards ensuring that their marriage succeeds in line with God’s plan, emphasising that “When husband and wife are in love race, the wife does not need to beg the husband before he gives her money, for instance.”

The wedding which took place at the Land of Grace Healing Ministries located on Land of Grace Avenue, Igando Lagos was well attended by family members, friends,

business associates of the couple’s families and men of God. Among the personalities present were many big time gospel preachers from Lagos and outside.

The couple both of whom are from Imo States later after the solemnisation of the marriage, hosted all their guests at a reception which took place at the Nobel Caste Event Centre located in Igando Road.
