Since the incident, a good number of suspected lesbians, gays and bi-sexuals have been in disarray with others reportedly on the run.

The vigilante men, community leaders, youths and policemen who reportedly behaved more like terrorists on arrival at the gym injured some athletes suspected to be same-sex practitioners. One of those suspects injured was Mr. Godwin Ossien Isioma.

During the chaos, one Ngozi Eze allegedly went missing but was later found after she had endured severe trauma in the hands of the attackers. She was eventually released.

Our source confirmed that Godwin Ossien Isioma after undergoing some treatment in the hospital, was discharged and since then he has gone underground as he lives in constant fear ostensibly due to the legal consequences of his indulgence if prosecuted and convicted.

He is obviously aware of an imprisonment of about 14 years if he is convicted on charges of same-sex relationship which is outlawed in Nigeria. He is strongly alleged to be a bisexual and has been in a committed but secret relationship with a suspected partner whose name was given as Mike Ojaga for over four years.

Due to the highly dangerous and abhorrent environment towards LGBTQ individuals in Nigeria, their relationship has been kept private.

Since the July,, 2025 attack, others injured like Isioma at the gym have reportedly remained traumatized and he, in particular has
continued to live in fear for his safety due to his identity, profession, and personal social relationships. Some anonymous persons who knew Godwin Ossien Isioma told our reporter that the prevailing threat against him has made it impossible for him to live freely and safely. His whereabouts has remained unknown.

During the attack at the gym, the assistant head coach, Jeffrey Okpakufe and several athletes were reportedly assaulted while the police also confiscated computers and other electronic devices from the gym, allegedly gathering personal information from same.

It was gathered by our reporter that two days after the July, 2025 raid at the gym, some policemen were able to locate Godwin Ossien Isioma’s family home at the Ikpoba Hill area of Benin City, Edo State with intent to arrest him but he could not be found.
