MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR

By Frank Oshanugor
The new year is already here with us. The 2027 general elections in Nigeria are gradually drawing near. Defections have since been the hallmark of political gladiators either for the right or wrong reasons.

The masses are tirelessly watching, doing their calculations, observing the political wind not with so much accurate permutations. While some are tempted to believe in unscientific assumptions that are weirdly associated with “if you can’t beat them, you can join” mantra, others are cautiously indifferent hoping that the wind could blow anywhere.

In this kind of situation with so much uncertainty, there are still some elements in the political space who can be relied upon whenever genuine grassroot mobilisation of voters comes to play. They are not the ‘fly by night’ kind of mobilizers whose interest is merely on what goes to their pocket and not the marketability of their candidates.

The man, Comrade Onochie Osheokwu is certainly not in the class of such unreliable characters whose integrity can be bought with just a pot of porridge. He may not have acquired a larger than life image in the political arena, yet his commitment to principles and unwavering attitude has clearly identified where he stands at any time.

With a degree in Political Science and Public Administration from Igbinedion University, Okada and a Diploma in Nursing and Primary Education, Delta State University, Abraka, Osheokwu has undoubtedly prepared himself intellectually for the task ahead.

Born on August 8, 1981, it is revealing that since he took the decision to venture into political activities, he had found himself in one camp or the other. Though, a business man, Onochie has not relented in trying to find his bearing in the political environment.

He was once appointed and served as a supervisory councilor in Aniocha South Local Government on the executive arm as Supervising Councilor for Finance on the auspice of People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
Under the same PDP, he was elected and served as Youth Leader, Aniocha South and later became the Chairman of Delta State PDP local government youth leaders. At a time, he served as Delta North Youth Leader under the same People’s Democratic Party.

Due to his commitment to the PDP, he was once appointed and served as Senior Special Assistant to the Governor of Delta State. As he upscaled his career in the political arena, he served as National Convention Protocol officer at the PDP National Convention representing Delta State.
In 2022 he resigned as Senior Special Assistant to Delta State Governor to join Peter Obi in Labour Party due to his belief for a better Nigeria which is possible through Peter Obi.
Due to the emergence of Mr. Peter Obi (a more credible candidate) as the presidential candidate of the Labour Party in 2023, Onochie joined the Obi-Datti Presidential Campaign Council as coordinator for Delta State. He coordinated the campaign that gave Obi victory in Delta State during the 2023 election. He was also the Obidient Movement Coordinator in South-South.
Comrade Onochie Osheokwu who began his educational career at Etiti Amaka Primary School, Ubulu-Unor and later at St. Anthony’s College, Ubulu-Uku before proceeding to the University has always carried himself respectfully within the political landscape.
