It came as a relief to students of three public owned secondary schools at Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State when representatives of the OLDSKOOL Club donated about three thousand customised notebooks to students of the college today Wednesday 24th September, 2025.

Mr. Joseph Ufoegbune, President, OldSkool Club

Representatives of the Club led by the Vice President, Mr. Nwanne Memeh were at St. Anthony’s College, Ezemu Girls Grammar School and Isho Mixed

Secondary School to make the book donations as part of the Club’s corporate social responsibility (CSR).

The delegation which included Vice President Memeh, Amechi Ofulue ANS

Sunny Ogboh had defiled the early

morning heavy rain to tour the schools with a view to making presentation of the books which the Club members

considered to be useful to the students, many of whom are from less privileged background.

Apart from the students, management staff of the three colleges were also presented with copies of the note books for their official use.

Staff of the various schools were said to have warmly expressed deep appreciation to members of the Club by deeming it expedient to assist the schools at this auspicious time when schools across the country are resuming for a new academic session.

To the management staff, the books would go a long way in solving the problem of inadequate note books for writing by the students.

In a manner of the famed Oliver Twist, the Principal of Isho Mixed Secondary School while appreciating the club; appealed for more assistance in the area of chairs and tables for staff of the college whom he said were forced to use students seats occasionally. The principal hinted that the school needed about 30 chairs and tables for members of staff.

It would be recalled that three years ago, the OLDSKOOL Club had donated mowing machines to the colleges to assuage the pains of manual cutting of grass by students.

The Club which currently has a membership strength of no fewer than 35 both in Nigeria and in the Diaspora is an association of males and females of Ubulu-Uku extraction who had their secondary school education between the 70s and early 90s.

One of the main objectives of the Club is for members to regularly relate with themselves and share with one another in good times and during challenges. Another major objective is also to contribute in the social, economic and educational development of Ubulu-Uku town.

The Club also provides a veritable platform for members to physically gather and socialise at Ubulu-Uku on every 30th December with a view to collectively sharing in the joy of outliving the outgoing year and welcoming the coming year with some pageantry and great expectations in the new year. The 30th December event is officially tagged “End of year Groove” and every member in Nigeria and abroad often look forward to the Groove which is generously funded voluntarily by members.

The Club is currently led by a Lagos based auto-dealer, Mr. Joseph Ufoegbune (a.k.a. Panky who is currently serving his second term in office as President.
