Nigeria’s Team List For Canada Sports Training Tour Released

The National Sports Commission (NSC) in collaboration with the Nigerian Boxing Federation (NBF) have released the names of
Nigerian athletes scheduled to travel to Canada for Golden Gloves Tournament and training tour towards the 2026 Commonwealth Games in Scotland.

During the tour, the 17-member team consisting of the athletes and officials would take part in the prestigious Golden Glove Tournament scheduled to take place from 1st to 5th July, 2026.

The team members and their officials include:

The team’s National Coach, Gift Otuonye Nsirim told journalists at the National Stadium, Lagos on Thursday that the training tour which is being facilitated by

Legacy Boxing Club, Calgary, Alberta, Canada will help prepare all the athletes from Nigeria, Canada and other countries that will be participating.

Nsirim was the Coach who led Nigeria’s athletic team to the Olympic Games in 2024 to Paris.

Speaking to journalists also in Lagos, the NBF Secretary, Vivian Azimene confirmed that the National Sports Commission and Nigerian Boxing Federation have released funds for the Canada training tour.
