A former Deputy Comptroller-General of Nigeria Immigration Service, (NIS) Dr. Emmanuel Brasca Udo Ifeadi has been honoured with the prestigious Global Peace Ambassador and Global Leadership Awards by the International Academy for Human Excellence (IAHE).

In a message conveying news of the Awards sighted by ATLANTICNEWSONLINE, the Founder cum President of the IAHE, India, Amb. (Dr) Tikam Soni said the awards are in recognition of Ifeadi’s outstanding contributions towards peace, leadership, education, conflict resolution and human rights within and outside Nigeria.

A Global Peace Ambassador is typically an individual recognised for his exceptional contributions to promoting peace, understanding and conflict resolution worldwide.

Some notable recipients of the Award over the years included: former President of South Africa, Nelson Mandela; Malala Yousafzai of Pakistan who is a Noble Peace Prize winner; Jane Goodall of United Kingdom who is a Primatologist and Conservationist; South African Desmond Tutu; and Aunt San Suu Kyi, a Novel Peace Prize Winner from Myanmar.

To qualify for the Global Peace Ambassador Award, among other things, one must have demonstrated commitment to peace and conflict resolution, significant contributions to international understanding and cooperation, leadership innovation in peace building initiatives, global recognition and respect, and strong communication and diplomacy skills.

The selection criteria include: nomination of a potential recipient by a reputable organisation or individual. Dr. Brasca Ifeadi was duly recommended for the award by His Lordship (Dr) Melody Omorodion, currently the President and Presiding Bishop of Compassionate God Revival Assembly Incorporated.

Amb.Brasca Ifeadi, born on 24th August, 1956 is a 1981 graduate of Political Science from University of Lagos, Akoka-Lagos. Subsequently, he obtained a Master of Science (M.Sc) in Political Science from the same institution; and Master of Philosophy (M.Phil) in International Relations from the University of Benin, Benin-City.
Following his graduation from University of Lagos, he had enlisted in the Nigeria Immigration Service on 5th August, 1982 as an Assistant Superintendent of Immigration. Over the years, he validly rose through the ranks before retiring on 24th August, 2016 on the rank of Deputy Comptroller-General (DCG) of Immigration Service after 34 years of meritorious service.
While in service, Ifeadi whose extreme cerebral nature was quite evident could not disappoint his admirers as he astutely combined his work with the pursuit of more academic laurels, which eventually culminated in the acquisition of two Doctorate Degrees (Ph.Ds).

In February 2009 he bagged a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in Strategic Studies from Ambrose Alli University, Ekpoma in Edo State. Subsequently, in April, 2013 he obtained another Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D) Degree in International Relations from University of Benin, Benin-City.
Throughout his period of service with the Nigeria Immigration Service, he worked at different formations and in various capacities as he progressed on the ranks just as he attended many in-service courses and trainings.

Beginning with the Basic Course as a new entrant at the Immigration Training School, Kano in 1982, the Global Peace Ambassador passed through the training institutions of other sister security agencies, such as, the Nigeria Police College, Ikeja, Lagos for a course in weapon handling; and the Department of State Service (DSS) Security Academy at Lower Usman Dam, Abuja in 2005.
At the Command and Staff College, Sokoto Ifeadi emerged as the best all-round student in Academics during training in 2001.
In 2006, the new Global Peace Ambassador attended the Document Fraud and Migration Management Course in Madrid, Spain. He participated in the Nigeria Immigration Stakeholders Forum with the theme: “National Security – The Challenges of Nigeria Immigration Service.” At the Forum, Dr. Ifeadi was made to present a seminar paper ostensibly due to his huge cerebral tendencies. The paper was titled – “The Challenges of Nigeria Immigration Service in the Enhancement of National Security at the Local Government Area and National Border Frontiers of Nigeria.”
He participated in several other courses which include — the National Migration Dialogue that was organised by the National Commission for Refugees, Migration and Internally Displaced Persons in December, 2022.
Apart from his core statutory duties while in service at the States’ Command level and at the Service Headquarters, Abuja, Dr. Brasca Ifeadi had on numerous occasions performed some special adhoc responsibilities and presentation of numerous lecture papers.
One of such responsibilities was his membership of a five-member Committee of selected officers who were saddled with the task of beginning the review and re-writing of the Immigration Act of the Nigeria Immigration Service, which had become obsolete between 2005 and 2006. At that time, he was serving as the Special Assistant to the then Comptroller-General of Immigration Service – Mr. Chukwurah Joseph Udeh OFR.
Amb. Ifeadi was also a member of a group of officers selected to write the Codified Operational Guidelines of the Nigeria Immigration Service between 2008 and 2009, when he was the Comptroller Rivers State Command.
Ever ready to increase his own knowledge base or intellectually impacting on others, Sir Ifeadi at various times personally wrote and delivered well structured lectures at four (4) different occasions at the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS) on behalf of the Comptroller-General of Immigration Service.
He has co-authored several relevant security related papers and books with other erudite scholars. One of such publications is titled: “Security and Developmental Challenges for Africa in the 21st Century”; with his contributory Essay titled: “Cross-Border Security Threats and Developmental Challenges For Africa: A Nigeria Immigration Service Perspective”. This co-authored book was published by the National Institute for Policy and Strategic Studies (NIPSS), Kuru-Jos in Honour of Prof. Thomas Akhigbe Imobighe in 2015.
He also co-authored an Academic paper with Prof. Sylvanus Ebohon, titled: “Managing the Problems of Public Order and Internal Security in Nigeria” in 2012.
As the Chairman, Board of Trustees (BOT) and Director, International Coordinator of Conflict Resolution and Migration Awareness Initiative (CRAMAI), he delivered a very insightful lecture on “Migration Face to Face and the operational mechanics of CRAMAI”, under the auspices of – The Real Picture Project at Ljubljana, Slovenia in 2019.
Dr. Ifeadi was the Guest Speaker during the monthly lecture series at the Nigerian Army Resource Centre (NARC), Asokoro, Abuja where he delivered a lecture titled: “National Integration And Security In Nigeria”. This unique event was Chaired by Former Chief of Army Staff and Hon. Minister of Interior Lt. General AB Dambazau on 27th October, 2022.
Amb. Brasca Ifeadi on several occasions delivered very thought provoking lectures at International Conference Organised by the ECOWAS Court of Justice in Accra, Ghana in 2019; in Praia, Cape Verde in 2022; in Banjul, The Gambia in 2023; and recently in Freetown, Sierra Leone in 2024.
He is currently the President of Shotokan Karate Do International – Nigeria (SKI-N); and a 7th Dan Black Belt, Japan Certified.
He has published three (3) books to his credit. The third edition which was recently published in 2024 by Amazon Bookss in the United States of America, is titled – “Shotokan Karate: Elucidating Karate Myths, Fallacies and Truisms”. The book majorly debunks the occult and baseless prejudices about Karate, and thus, earnestly projects Karate and Martial Arts in general, as a superb character moulding machine for both our teeming youths and the elderly.
Over the years, Dr. Brasca Ifeadi had been honoured with other various awards, before the recent awards ostensibly for his outstanding, calm and calculated personality; and enormous contributions in various spheres of life.
The awards include: Ministerial Award as the Best All Round in academics at the Command and Staff College, Sokoto in 2001.
In 2015, he was honoured with an Award of Excellence by Anioma Youths Network for Development (AYND), a prominent non-governmental organisation for Unblemished Service to Nigeria.
During his years of
Service, he was honoured with numerous letters of commendations from the authorities of the Nigeria Immigration Service and other structural agencies at one time or the other.
