Election 2027: Politicians And ‘Fly By Night’ Prophets

By Frank Oshanugor

It is no longer surprising that in today’s Nigeria, politically driven pastors and prophets are fast outnumbering those pastors and prophets genuinely called by God to do His work.

More disgusting is the fact that these ‘self-called’ pastors and prophets are breaking through every media space to advertise themselves with revelations that do not have their origin in God’s agenda. They are never mindful of the scriptural condemnation that goes to any one who prophesies when God has not revealed anything to him.

In Nigeria, it has become a norm in the Christendom for the self-styled pastors and prophets to shout louder in making public their self generated prophecies than what the genuine ones could do.

Since the dawn of the Fourth Republic, many have chosen to popularize themselves through the shameless corridor of fake prophesies to gullible citizens who have become innocent victims of what I may call weaponized Christianity.

Regrettably, these fake pastors and prophets have calculatedly chosen to up their game during build ups to elections. They are not lacking in creating heart disturbing scenarios that on one hand send shivers down the spine of some political gladiators while at the same time, appealing to the expectations of some others.

This is ostensibly not done with any divine accuracy but warped and opaque guess works that are common denominators in the premises of an average spin doctor.

During the 2023 general election campaign period, many Nigerians were witnesses to the emergence of Fake Bishops allegedly propped up by a certain presidential candidate eager to win election by hook or crook. The so called Bishops, many of whom were clothed in obscure attires far from the normal Bishopric garments are today living in a hell they helped to create.

Where are their parishes? one may ask. They have gone with the wind because their gathering was certainly not of God. Regrettably, the fake pastors and prophets in our midst have learned nothing and forgotten nothing as they are now prophesying from both sides of their mouth on who will become Nigeria’s president in 2027 and who would not become a Governor in the same 2027.

Without running the risk of mentioning the names of such masquerading fake pastors and prophets, it has become a scientific reality that they operate from some satanic terrestrial space. Otherwise, their prophesies would have stood the test of time.

In the last few days, we wake up to read in the social media the prophetic statements attributed to these so called self-styled prophets. They keep rehashing and contradicting themselves while anchoring their prophesies on divine revelation.

The usual audacity with which they assert their positions has often ironically portrayed them without knowing it, as having heard from different Gods. Incidentally we have only one Almighty God from whom all divine revelations or prophesies emanate.

Just imagine a scenario where Prophet ‘A’ makes headline with a revelation warning Peter Obi to stay away from the 2027 presidential election with insistence that Bola Tinubu is already ordained by God to rule for another four years after his tenure in 2027.

Prophet ‘B’, on the other hand comes to say that Tinubu would face the worst election defeat if he goes ahead to contest this 2027 presidential election. As if these are not enough contradiction, Prophet ‘C,’ announces that there would be no election if Atiku Abubakar does not win his party’s presidential ticket at the primary election.

In all of these, one common denominator is God. Can God be saying different things to different prophets at the same time on the same 2027 election?

Come to think of it, when has prophecy become part of our electoral process? Why should the media give much attention to this category of people who are helping to demean Christianity by prophesying when God never authorized such?

Could it be that Allah has no prophets in Nigeria to also tell us who will win the next presidential election?
Why are the spin doctors not largely in town to tell us whom their omni-detector or clairvoyant spirit has chosen as our next president?

Time has come for the self styled prophets and pastors masquerading on the corridors of Christianity in the name of God to stop creating disaffection and disenchantment in our political space with their fake prophesies. Let them leave politics, politicians and masses alone.

They should stop misleading members of the public with their self concocted predictions that are neither here nor there all in the name of prophesy. If they are genuine pastors and prophets, let them boldly come out to condemn the mis-governance, economic hardship and insecurity currently ravaging the country. Let them call a spade by its name
