Authorities of Delta State Police Command, Asaba, have condoled with the family of 23-year-old Miss Precious Yusuf whose corpse was found along DLA Road Asaba few days ago, just as ladies have been advised to be mindful of people they meet on dating websites.
The Command’s spokesman, Bright Edafe a Superintendent of Police made this known in a statement on Saturday.
According to Edafe, on Thursday, 24th of October 2024 at about 8.40am the Divisional Police Officer (DPO) in charge of ‘A’ division Asaba had received a distress call that the corpse of a young lady was found lying at DLA Road opposite Falcon Club. The DPO Rex Abiodun, Chief Superintendent of Police swiftly mobilized and led police operatives of the division to the scene where the corpse of the lady was found.
Atlanticnewsonline learnt that preliminary investigation revealed that on 22nd October 2024, Yusuf told her friend (name not disclosed) that she was going to see a male friend she met on iHappy dating website.
She reportedly left the house same day to see the young man (whose name was not known) at Koka area of Asaba and at about 7.30am on 23rd October, 2024 she called her friend that she was on her way home. Unfortunately that call was the last she made to any contact only for her corpse to be found the next day.
Police detectives eventually took the corpse and deposited same at the mortuary awaiting autopsy. Meanwhile, as at press time, it was not certain if there were injuries on the lifeless body as to suggest being a victim of vehicle accident or violent attack.
The Commissioner of police ,Delta State CP Olufemi Abaniwonda has assured members of the public particularly the family of the deceased that investigation has commenced even as he assured them of justice.
The Police boss has also urged young ladies to be mindful of the friends they hang out with and should exercise caution particularly when dealing with people they meet on dating websites and other social media platforms.
