The much announced Canada tour of Nigeria’s famous musical group ‘Danfo Drivers’ earlier scheduled to take place this December has been shifted to February 13 to March 6, 2026.
ATLANTICNEWSONLINE gathered that the tour was rescheduled due to the delay in securing visa for some of the band members. The tour earlier planned to take place in seven Canadian cities would have begun on December 5, 2025 in Toronto and ended on December 27, 2025 in Edmonton.

The Chief Executive Officer of Alberta Ice Promotion, Rachael Nwafor in a telephone discussion from United Kingdom told our correspondent on Tuesday that the postponement of the musical tour was due to the inability of some band members to secure their visas on schedule.
Alberta Ice Promotions is the record label where the ‘Danfo Drivers’ is currently signed on, and Nwafor sometime ago in a press statement said the group was embarking on the Canada musical tour at the invitation of Canada based Elite Entertainment group.

She had hinted that a good number of Afro beat fans in Canada were already looking forward to the musical tour as they feel nostalgic of the high performance of the ‘Danfo Drivers’ duo of Mad Melon and Mountain Black back back in the days before the unceremonious passage of Mad Melon some six years ago.”
The duo of Mad Melon and Mountain Black who grew up in Ajegunle area of Lagos as ‘brothers’ had taken to commercial bus driving, plying the Mile Two to Ojo route to make ends meet until their musical talent was discovered by Cornerstone Music in early 2000. They subsequently became popular.

They rose to become one of Nigeria’s best music duo and international stars to come out of Ajegunle Lagos where they had their childhood years. Ajegunle was a Lagos low class area with slums and unhealthy life style years back.
The group subsequently gained fame over the years with their hit song “I am a Danfo Driver Suo.” The song became a major achievement, reaching number one in the nation’s musical chart for 13 weeks in 2003.

In 2005 Mad Melon and Mountain Black released their second album titled “Danfo Travels: Success Story.’. Though the duo had their challenges at some point in their musical career but they managed to overcome as their popularity among their fans was still intact.

Regrettably, Mad Melon died in September, 2019 of an undisclosed illness. Since then his partner, Mountain Black has moved on, maintaining the same group identity. He completed a musical tour of Europe earlier this year and later came up with Canada tour.
