A Catholic Priest, Rev. Fr. Augustine Nwabuzor has charged couples to place priority on their marriage and remain committed to ensuring its success. Acccording to him, every couple must work hard to keep his or her marriage intact.

The Reverend Father gave this charge in his homily on December 27, 2025 after he wedded Francis Ugochukwu Onwualu and Samanthan Nakanjako, an Ugandan citizen in Asaba. To him, “the primary job of any spouse either as husband or wife is to ensure that his or her partner works towards making heaven at the end of everything.

Talking on occasional pains that occur in marriages, the priest recalled that when God sent Adam out of the Garden of Eden for breaching divine order, his wife Eve accompanied him in the departure from the garden. “Therefore, in your time of challenges do not abandon your partner. In the time of challenges, you should emulate Jesus Christ who endured to the end.

“Do not forget that you are essential collaborator and foundation of the family. Therefore, Christ has called both of you into this wonderful union. So, try and embrace it. Do not run away and do not be tired but embrace it.”

The wedding ceremony which was well attended by highly placed friends, family members, associates, retired and serving political office holders was colourful in every department of it.

Leading the pack of personalities at the occasion was former governor of Delta State, Dr. Ifeanyi Arthur Okowa, Deputy Governor of Delta State, Chief Monday Onyeme who represented Governor Sheriff Oborevwori, incumbent Governor of the State.

Other personalities at the occasion included parents of the bride, Mr. Hassan Sewankambo and Mrs. Christine H. Namakula and parents of the groom, Engr. & Mrs John Cee Onwualu. Engr. Onwualu is the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of Jecon Associates Limited, a reputable civil engineering company with landmark achievements in Delta State and beyond.

The ceremony which later moved to Orchid Hotels, Asaba for reception attracted more guests than what was recorded in the church. The conviviality that pervaded the ceremony could only be imagined as beautifully dressed guests spiced up the occasion.

The groom, Francis Ugochukwu Onwualu holds a B.Eng and M.Sc degrees in Mechanical Engineering from Coventry University and Aston University in United Kingdom.
