UNIDEL Medical Biochemistry Dept. Holds Send-Off For Corp Member

The Department of Medical Biochemistry, University of Delta (UNIDEL), Agbor, on Tuesday 3rd June, 2025, held a heartfelt send-off ceremony for a youth corp member, Miss Somtochukwu Emmanuella Okafor who completed her service year.

The Head of Department, Dr. Anthony Nnamudi in his address expressed gratitude to Somtochukwu for the invaluable contributions she made to the Department, stressing that her service year and presence was a blessing. He added that the Department would miss her cheerfulness, energy, enthusiasm and commitment.

Dr. Nnamudi said Somtochukwu demonstrated exceptional leadership skills, a strong work ethics and a passion for learning.

He noted that she was an integral member of the Department who provided support and assistance to both staff and students, making their job done seamlessly.

While wishing her well in her future endeavors, the HOD also pointed out that Somtochukwu’s positive attitude, humility and kindness earned her respect and admiration from everyone in the Department.

Some staff in the Department in their separate goodwill messages, said it was great to have Somtochukwu during her youth service and described her as an epitome of intergrity, humility and brilliance.

Speaking to the UNIDEL Media Team, the youth corp member, Somtochukwu who was overwhelmed by the surprise ceremony, said serving in the Institution was a wonderful and exciting experience. She averred that she enjoyed cordial working relationship with all staff in the Department and commended them for their excellent teaching, love and care.

She noted that she enjoyed the hospitality accorded her from the University community and the environs.

Speaking further, she stated that she was particularly pleased with the University Management for appreciating hard work, especially from youth corp members.

Somtochukwu who is a first class product from Legacy University, Okija, Anambra State, said she would like to work in UNIDEL if given the opportunity.

She thanked the Federal Government for increasing the allowance of youth corp members and appealed for the payment of the arrears.

The ceremony which attracted some staff in the Department also featured prayers for the corp member, goodwill messages from staff and students, dance, and presentation of gifts.
