MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR

People of Udo quarters at Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State have strongly appealed to Governor Sheriff Oborevwori to approve the completion of construction work on the 1.25kilometre road connecting Udo quarters and other parts of the town.

Speaking to ATLANTICNEWSONLINE on behalf of the community at the weekend, a management consultant and indigene of the community, Dr. Jude Iyitor; said that construction work on the road measuring 1.25kilometres from Idegwu Primary School to the end of the community was stopped in 2023 by the project contractors.

He explained that since the work was stopped, his people have been going through some harrowing experience as the road often become impassable once there is rain fall. On behalf of the community therefore, he has made passionate appeal to the state governor to urgently order the contractor to complete the project.

Our investigation revealed that the contract was awarded to Technology Partners International (TPI) at initial cost of about N425million. The 1.25kilometre road was projected to have two side culverts and the job had commenced in earnest until the contractors suddenly stopped work midway.
ATLANTICNEWSONLINE investigation further revealed that the contractors stopped work ostensibly due to inadequate funding even in the face of rapidly increasing cost of materials like cement, asphalt, granite and so on. The road has since become worse than it was in its original state especially during the rainy season as it is currently the case.

It has become evident that movement in and out of Udo quarters since the road construction was abandoned, gives a saddening experience during the rainy season.

The community whose sons and daughters are at home and in the Diaspora have therefore appealed to Governor Oborevwori to quickly intervene and approve the completion of the road project without further delay.
