Three primary schools in Ogun State have won one million nairas in an education-centred quiz competition. Moslem Primary School, Imodi, AUD Primary School, Ayepe, and St. Peter Anglican Primary School, Imosa.
The first winner’s prize of N500,000 went to Moslem Primary School while AUD Primary School and St. Peter Anglican Primary went home with second and third positions’ of N300,000 and N200,000 respectively.
The Ola Olufunmilayo Foundation (OOF) is an organization with a primary focus on children’s education and in conjunction with Odogbolu Local Government Education Authority organized the quiz competition for primary schools in Odogbolu Local Government Area of Ogun State.
The quiz competition was in recognition of the fact that education is an instrument of economic empowerment and national development.
The OOF Quiz Competition came in stages beginning with thirty two primary schools at the preliminary stage and climaxed at the grand finale with ten schools out of which the overall best three winners and schools emerged.
According to the Founder cum Executive Director, Hon. Ola Olufunmilayo, the organization considered the competition as a development process and encouragement of excellence amongst primary school pupils who are the future leaders of Nigeria.
He added that OOF’s decision to initiate the annual competition was part of its corporate social responsibility in furtherance of the quest to touch the lives of Nigerians in positive ways.
In the same vein, the Executive Secretary of Odogbolu Local Government Education Authority, Giwa Saka Wasiu Adekoya described the quiz competition as long lasting initiative to promote intellectual development through healthy academic competition among primary school pupils and geared to boost their self confidence.
The participating schools had rigorously gone through five rounds of questions and answers segments and at the end of it all, the overall best three schools emerged
