MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR

Incidence of lesbianism and gay relationship is fast escalating in parts of Nigeria in spite of the anti same-sex union law prohibiting Lesbian, Gay, Bisexual, Transgender and Queer (LGBTQ) culture in the country.

A female, of Igbo extraction by name Miss Favour Uche Mgbemeje residing at Sango Otta in Ogun State with her parents has reportedly gone underground to escape mob attack following revelation that she is in same-sex relationship with another girl called Zainab.

It was reliably gathered that late December, 2024, Zainab’s parents Mr. Sani Momodu and Mrs. Mariam Momodu also residing at Sango Otta had learnt from some sources close to their family that Favour was already in same-sex relationship with their daughter Zainab.
Both parents were said to have initially doubted the information until they sternly confronted Zainab who out of fear opened up to her parents, narrating how Favour influenced her into becoming a lesbian.

As devout Muslims, the confession of Zainab reportedly infuriated them to the extent of making attempt on her life. They considered the act quite abominable and highly intolerable just as they did not waste time before they set out to accuse Favour openly of corrupting their daughter and influencing her into a same-sex union.
Angered so much by the ignoble act of their daughter with Favour, Mr. Momodu on December 28, 2024 mobilised his political allies and a group of Police officers to the Sango Otta residence of High Chief Julius Udoka Mgbemeje and his wife Mrs. Gift Olachi Mgbemeje located on Fadipe Street. Chief Udoka is a well known politician within the community and far beyond his Ogun State environment.
Sources close to the family told our correspondent that when the police and Momodu’s political allies arrived, Favour had already left the residence to an unknown place.

Her absence at home further aggravated the anger of Zanaib’s parents and their team. This invariably prompted them into attacking Favour’s mother and two of her siblings namely Joshua Mgbemeje (brother) and sister, Great Mgbemeje. They were all injured by the attackers.
The Mgbemeje’s family house was not spared as Mama Favour’s retail shop was looted and damaged just as the angry mob threatened a return to diligently search for Favour whom they had promised to apprehend either dead or alive. For now, Favour’s whereabouts remains unknown to her family and friends even as the police are actively looking for her.

When contacted, the spokesman of the Ogun State Police Command, Superintendent of Police, Sola Omotola said she had no information yet with respect to the incident.
