MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR

By Frank Oshanugor
An Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Chike Oti who at a time served as Police Public Relations Officer in Lagos has raised alarm over his fast deteriorating health and pleaded with kind hearted persons to urgently come to his financial assistance.

He is currently on admission in a Lagos hospital receiving treatment for kidney related ailment. In a save my life appeal post to friends and well-wishers on Thursday, Oti said: “Good morning my dear brothers and sisters in the house. My name is ACP Chike Godwin Oti, recently transferred as AC’ DFA, Railway Police Command, Ebutte meta, Lagos.

“I wish to inform you that I was recently diagnosed with 5th stage renal failure also known as end stage renal disease (kidney failure) occasioned by unmitigated high blood pressure at Lagoon hospital, Bourdillion Street, Ikoyi, Lagos. It was recommended that my only chance to stay alive is that I must undergo haemodialysis twice a week until I am able to raise the sum of N25,000,000.00 (25 millon Naira) for kidney transplant. On my own I have spent about N3.5 million for the one week I spent at the aforementioned hospital.

“The cost of keeping alive is way beyond my means right now. I therefore seek your help dear brothers and sisters to surmount this terrible illness.”
His account details as provided in the post:
Acct No: 2016631487
Bank: UBA PLC
Name: CHIKE OTI
GSM NO: 07065246927
Since Oti is still in service as a senior police officer, one would have expected that his employers, the Nigeria Police Force would take up the responsibility immediately. Effort by Atlanticnewsonline to confirm from the Lagos State Police Command Headquarters, the medical entitlement of the ailing Assistant Commissioner of Police has not yielded positive result as at the time of going to the press.

Meanwhile, journalists covering the crime beat in Lagos in particular are all worried and concerned over Oti’s deteriorating health situation as he was one of the finest Police Public Relations Officers that ever served in the Lagos State Command.
During his time as police spokesman, he related very well with the media. Some of the journalists who spoke with Atlanticnewsonline on Thursday morning have pleaded with the Inspector General of Police (IGP) Kayode Egbetokun to approve for Oti to be taken abroad for adequate medical attention. “Chike Oti must not be allowed to die carelessly” they pleaded.
