Two Pentecostal pastors have reminded Nigerians particularly Christians of the need to always appreciate God’s goodness in their lives through thanksgiving in spite of the economic challenges they may be passing through in contemporary time.

Delivering their sermon last Sunday at the Annual Thanksgiving service of Canaanland Divine Church at its headquarters in Ketu area of Lagos, Pastor Richard Akor from a Lagos

based church and Prophet Sholola Akeem Adewale, General Overseer, Word of Solution Ministries in their separate messages posited that one major key to unlock God’s glory in the life of any man is the key of Thanksgiving.

Pastor Akor who leveraged on I Thessalonians Chapter 5 Vs 18, to buttress his message, enjoined every Nigerian to give thanks to God in all situations, just as he expressed dismay that many people do not care to thank God for everything He does for them, no matter how big or small.

He further explained that it was the attitude of thanksgiving and praise exhibited by the Biblical Paul and Silas that gave them freedom from prison as recorded in Acts 16 Vs 26-35. He gave some reasons why everyone should always give thanks to God, explaining that in

the first place, the act of thanksgiving is a fulfillment of God’s purpose for man as it is His will for human beings to always praise and

thank Him as recorded in the Bible. More so, he posited that thanksgiving to God ushers someone into God’s presence just as it uplifts the downcast and opens door of blessing.

Prophet Adewale sermonizing on the same theme of Thanksgiving explained that thanksgiving comes in different ways liking singing, dancing, financial support to the work of God and others. He took the text of his message from Psalm 50 verse 14-15.

The Thanksgiving service attracted a good number of guests from other denominations and the General Overseer of the Church, Pastor Jude Chuks Itabor was full of

appreciation for the overwhelming presence of guests many of whom were worshipping in that church for the first time. Some of the guests also used the opportunity to make some financial pledge and donations towards assisting the Church in building its permanent site.
