MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR
By Charles Nwabardi
The Founder of the Living Faith Church Worldwide International (aka Winners Chapel); Bishop David Oyedepo on Monday officially commissioned the Margaret Lawrence University, Ute Ogbeje in Ika North East Local Government Area of Delta State.
The State Government was represented by the Delta House of Assembly Speaker, Rt. Hon. Sheriff Oborevwori at the occasion.
The University which is located on a vast land with magnificent edifices is being developed by Paulo Homes Limited.
The Bishop after dedicating the project to the Almighty God commended the developer for the landmark achievement that was borne out of great initiative and quest to serve mankind.
The man of God said he was sure that the great institution would contribute immensely to the manpower needs of Nigeria.
The commissioning was devoid of the usual pomp and pageantry that comes with such ceremony as access through the University entrance gate was highly restricted.
A security officer who pleaded annoynimity confided in AtlanticNewsonline correspondent present at the venue that the restriction into the premises was largely on the instruction of the management of the institution as flouting the order could earn someone a summary dismissal.
Another person who claimed to be one of the Engineers working at the University said; on the basis of anoynymity, that the restrictions were as a result of the insecurity pervading Nigeria in contemporary time.
The crowd who trooped out to witness the august occasion and have a glimpse of Bishop Oyedepo were subsequently confined to some space opposite the University.
A woman among the crowd joyfully told AtlanticNewsonline that they trooped out not only to see Oyedepo but also in solidarity with their illustrous son; Chief (Dr) Paul Odili, the Chief Executive Officer of Paulo Homes Limited who has been affecting lives positively in their Community.
Dr. Odili is also the founder, Visitor and Pro-Chancellor of the Margaret Lawrence University.
The uniqueness of the University is that it is located in a serene agrarian environment free from distraction in a place locally called ‘Galilee Town’ with all modern facilities like police station, high court, electricity, water and can be easily accessed from Lagos/Asaba Dual carriage way through Umunede.
It could not immediately be ascertained when academic activities would commence at the campus but there are many completed faculty/departmental buildings with lecture halls, office spaces waiting to be utilised anytime gates of the university are open to the pioneer undergraduate students.
It is however hoped that the school will resume academic activities soonest.
