In the spirit of Easter celebration, the Tilda Care Foundation, a UK/Nigeria based non governmental organization (NGO) paid charity visit to Red Cross Motherless Babies Home, Owerri bringing succour and love to the motherless children.

The Home which is located at No. 2 Sam Mbakwe Road, beside Emmanuel College, over the years has continued to cater for the welfare needs of motherless and abandoned babies.

With the support of Chief Charles Orie, a prominent Nigerian business man, philanthropist and politician from imo state, the NGO presented bags of rice, cartons of indomie, cartons of spaghetti and large bag of beans to the Home.

Receiving the gifts on behalf of the Matron Mrs. Ugochukwu Okeosisi who was unavoidably absent, Mrs comfort Anyalewechi, a senior ward attendant at the motherless home thanked Tilda Care Foundation for coming to alleviate their hardship by making donations of food items to them and urged other people to emulate the Foundation. Asked if the children are for adoption, Mrs Anyalewechi said in Red Cross, they take care of children who lost their mothers at birth or even both parents but send them back to their families when they old enough to be on their own.
She added that some of the children that lost their mothers are collected back as soon as their father remarry, others collect them when they have past certain age as toddlers.
Making the presentation, Tilda Care Foundation Imo State spokesperson, Mrs Mercy Okereke said it’s the tradition of the Foundation for every season to remember the less privileged, adding that many of such places have been visited both in Imo and Anambra States and more are being scheduled for visitation.
She said further that only places of refute are visited not places with questionable characteristics.
