At a time many marriages are suffering serious setbacks in our society particularly within the elite circle, the Managing Director/Chief Executive Officer of Rainoil, Engr. (Dr.) Gabriel Ogbechie has advised husbands to show love to their wives without reservation as only deep love can sustain marriages for a very long time.

Speaking recently at the wedding reception of Dr. Brasca Chukwubueze Ifeadi (junior) and his wife Mrs. Maryann Chizoba Ifeadi (nee Nwachukwu) in Lagos, Ogbechie noted that most marriages that had broken in recent time were as a result of inadequate love between the spouses. Predicating his position on the Biblical injunction that admonishes man to love his wife, he posited that man has not been able to keep to such terms hence the friction.

He added that once a man loves his wife deeply, the woman has no choice but to also keep to the Biblical injunction which makes it mandatory for her to always respect the man.

In his capacity as the Chairman of the occasion, he advised Brasca Ifeadi (junior) to ensure that he shows love to his wife, Chizoba always without reservation and should also endeavour to carry her along as God blesses him economically.

While advising Chizoba to always give respect to his husband so as to earn his love, the Rainoil boss used the opportunity to remind married people that nobody would ever show love to their children more than their wives. “So, men you should always take good care of your wives,” he advised.

Earlier, during solemnisation in the church, one of the officiating ministers had remarked that the church as an institution in contemporary times and the society at large, have become tired of broken marriages and homes.

In trying to find out what has gone wrong in marriages, the man of God explained that God’s idea of marriage institution was established in the Book of Genesis Chapter I:26 when Adam and Eve were made to live as husband and wife in the garden of Eden.

The preacher emphasised that God made every provision for man and woman to live a life of safety, perfect freedom, abundance and protection adding that there was however an instruction that they must not touch the forbidden fruit. He contended that the instruction was emphatic because touching it would mean death.

With “The forbidden fruit” as theme of the sermon, the man of God pointed out that God intended the instruction to be a test of obedience for man. Regrettably, he said “man failed the test as recorded in Genesis Chapter 3 and according to the preacher, man lost his salvation with effect from the day Adam and Eve disobeyed God.

He remarked that the nakedness of Adam and Eve at the earliest times in the garden of Eden was a symbol of transparency but that the moment Eve was ill advised and she got her husband involved, the transparency was lost as they became conscious of their nakedness.

He advised Dr. Brasca Ifeadi (junior) and his wife not to listen to third parties who would want to unnecessarily interfere in their marriage, admonishing them to see only God as their counsellor/adviser. In the same vein, the preacher enjoined third parties including parents of the couple not to interfere in the affairs of Brasca and Chizoba.

He reminded married couples that God did not intend that they should remain two but one, once they have agreed to live together as husband and wife. Perhaps, obvious of the fact that couples in contemporary time are always comparing themselves with others, the preacher declared that “there is no perfect marriage. The only theory/formular that can bring perfection comes from God as recorded in the Bible,” he remarked.

Advising the newly wedded couple, the priest told them to make the Bible their companion and always honour God in their homes.

The wedding which took at the Anglican Church of the Ascension, Opebi-Ikeja Lagos was conducted under the leadership of The Right Revd.
