The Executive Chairman of Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State, Hon. (Pastor) Jude Chukwunwike, has called for peace, unity, forgiveness and reconciliation in order to drive progress and development in his native home of Ubulu-Uku.
The elated Chukwunwike urged his people to use the prevailing unity and oneness of mind shown during his sister’s abduction and subsequent safe return from the hands of her captors to embrace peace, forgiveness and total rebirth.
Pastor Chukwunwike made the call in his country home in Ubulu-Uku in a closing remark at the second
edition of Rt. Hon. Joan Onyemaechi (Ada Anioma’s) thanksgiving service organized by the kingdom in celebration of her release from the den of kidnappers.
It was a carnival in Ubulu-Uku as Palace chiefs, women, youths and school children all trooped out to celebrate their daughter’s safe return.
According to Chukwunwike, “I can beat my chest and attest that a new Ubulu-Uku has just emerged, judging from the overwhelming prayers, solidarity, love and support shown to my family during this ordeal.
“Words are not enough to truly acknowledge the tireless resilience and love extended to us from Ubulu people, home and abroad, while this predicament lasted. This abundant solidarity reminds us of the
imperative for forgiveness, renewal of hope and a commitment to unity in shared aspiration to usher Ubulu-Uku to a greater level”, he said.
Extending his gratitude to Aniocha South people and Deltans at large, Chukwunwike used the occasion
to appeal for understanding as the Executive Chairman of the local government, stressing that he came prepared for the job he asked from Aniocha South people.
He said the Needs Assessment Liaison Office which he recently created will meaningfully inter-face with various communities to identify priority projects that will have profound impact on the grassroots.
The office, he said, will be a compass to guide his administration in effectively taking decisions on project execution in collaboration with every community within the limits of available resources.
The colourful occasion which had Palace chiefs and political leaders in Aniocha South in attendance, began with an inter-denominational praise and thanksgiving at the town’s main square.
