Chief Emma Ejiofor

Sequel to the increasing level of illegal and forceful acquisition of lands belonging to Ubulu-Uku indigenes particularly at Aniagbala axis and other parts of the

community, the Onishe (Prime Minister) of Ubulu-Uku kingdom, Chief (Dr) Emma Ejiofor has sternly warned all individuals and groups engaged in illegal land grabbing activities within Ubulu Uku farmlands to put an end to such practice.

In a press statement on Monday, the high Chief said “Recent actions, specifically those attributed to the Obi of Ogwashi Uku concerning the Aniagbala farmland, demonstrate a flagrant disregard for established traditional land ownership practices and the rule of law.”

Chief Ejiofor emphasized that Ubulu Uku farmland ownership is determined through generations of use and stewardship by specific quarters and kindreds, exceeding 30 years in many cases.

According to him, “the purported legal claim cited by the Obi of Ogwashi-Uku lacks merit and will be vigorously challenged. Attempts to claim land with no historical

familial connection to cultivation in that area constitutes a violation of long-standing traditions and are unacceptable.

“This illegal activity will not be tolerated. Robust mechanisms are in place to address these transgressions.” Dr. Ejiofor has therefore warned that those involved will

face the full force of the law and other consequences for their actions adding that injustice to any member of the community will be met with the collective response of the community.”
