Delta State Police Command, has debunked the trending story that Hon. Joan Amechi (a.k.a. Ada Anioma) kidnapped on Tuesday in Asaba by unknown gunmen has been killed by her abductors.
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, Superintendent of Police Bright Edafe told Atlanticnewsonline at about 4pm on Friday that the “story is fake,” adding that the police were yet to get any clue as to what is the fate of the former lawmaker cum Commissioner who was abducted in a very violent manner while in church service. A police man and driver attached to her were gruesomely murdered in the process of her abduction.
Some online publications have been trending with a rather bizzare story of her murder by the Kidnappers who allegedly dumped her bruised corpse somewhere near River Niger.
Some other online publications have also gone to town with a story alleging that the Kidnappers have made contact and demanded a ransom of N300million.
One of the platforms alleged that the
kidnappers contacted the husband, but records revealed that the former legislator was not married to anybody as at the time of abduction. It is therefore uncertain if the authors of the story were referring to her former husband, Mr. Peter Mrakpor, a Senior Advocate of Nigeria who served as Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice during Governor Ifeanyi Okowa of Delta State.
