A political pressure group known as The True Democrats (TTD) has called on youths in Nigeria to identify and register with the Labour Party (LP) whose presidential candidate in the 2023 Election, Mr. Peter Obi has more credibility and competence among all the candidates intending to take over leadership of the country from President Muhammadu Buhari in 2023.

The group’s Delta State Chapter Chairman, Mr. Chris Obazei gave the advice recently in his welcome address at the swearing in ceremony of the state executive officers of TTD and inaugural meeting in Delta State.

According to Obazei, “this is not the time for the youths to sit on the fence but a time to physically identify with a political party that shares similar vision with TTD for a progressive Nigeria.”

The Delta TTD Chieftain noted that “there is a great political awakening that has triggered our youths and it calls for an urgent need to guide them properly through a true democratic revolutionary process without confrontation.”

He added that”we have to sensitize our people in every nook and cranny of this country who are still politically uninformed of the bondage that has stalled our development over the years. It is a task for everyone.”

He told his fellow new members of TTD executive that “It is not just enough to get PVCs. PVC is important but we need to and must compel our teeming youths to identify with a political group as a channel through which our voice can be heard and actively participate in the democratic process. We can no longer sit on the fence.”

While explaining the effort of TTD at the national level through the commitment of its Convener; Comrade Bob Clifford Ofunne, geared towards preparing its members for future political positions, the Delta Chairman declared that “Peter Obi is the only candidate that met the vision of our movement. It is in the light of this that we threw our weight of support on him.”

He disclosed further that “TTD is collaborating with Obi PPGN; a global support group of which our convener Mr. Bob Clifford is the coordinator Abuja branch and also the Christian Association of Nigeria (CAN).

“Therefore, we are working to ensure Labour Party’s victory which will be our victory by the grace of God. It is obvious to everyone that the era of the old parties are fast fading away for new ones to emerge.”

In his speech at the swearing in ceremony, TTD’s convener, Bob Clifford Ofunne said among other things that TTD as a movement has become a formidable force and voice aimed at correcting the wrongs of our political history systematically.

Among the new executive members present at the meeting were Comrade Adam Hendrix Adingupu, who represented the Chairman, Board of Trustees, Godspower Olokor, State Secretary, Olorogun Henry Ohworisi Ideh, State Treasurer, Anthony Ogbogo, State Financial Secretary, Lady Valerie Opia, State Woman Leader, Esso Dennis Boniwe, Director Media Services, Edmund Amechi Umunnah, and Christopher Ashinze, LGA Secretary, Aniocha South.
