MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR

By Doreen Ogboku
A female Mixed Martial Arts (MMA) fighter Queen Acha, has gone underground following accusation and threat of being in a same-sex relationship with another female.

A very reliable source in her Warri environment in Delta State told ATLANTICNEWSONLINE that since she was rumoured to be involved in bisexuality, she has not been seen for about three months now.
The source disclosed that Acha’s problem began sometime in 2024, when she opted to advocate for better protection for female athletes during a Women’s Day event. She was also said to have spoken against sexual abuse by coaches and officials in the martial arts space.
Her advocacy obviously did not seem to have gone down well with some people who suspectedly began to make threatening calls to her anonymously.
The matter got to a frightening level where some unknown men met her one day at a gymnasium and unleashed attack. Her sporting equipment were destroyed in the process.

She was reported to have lodged a complaint with the police in Warri but according to some sources, she did not get favourable response from the police authorities where she reported the matter.
Queen Acha’s problem according to a source was quite a complicated one as her bisexuality from some evidence is deep rooted in the belief that her closeness to another female kickboxer named Ngozi, was quite suspicion that they were having same-sex love relationship.

On the other hand, some reliable sources in her Warri environment where she trained on the supervision of Coach Odion Emoni revealed she was always derogatorily called a “man-woman”meaning that she is a bisexual which she has reportedly not denied.
Her issue allegedly got messier when her obscene photograph with Ngozi was shared in the community by some local “local whistle blowers” and her family members were said to have seen the photo and were ashamed due to her sexuality as a bisexual female. They reportedly condemned her. All these culminated in her going underground as such act is abominable in their community.
A female anonymous source who claimed to be close to the MMA fighter over the years, hinted of how some time in October 2024, some men followed her home from the gymnasium where she trained and beat her.
The men were said to have inflicted injuries on her such that she was taken to hospital in unconscious state. She had broken ribs and a dislocated jaw.
Few days later after Queen reported the matter to the police, nothing positive came out of it.
It was revealed to our correspondent that on 25th July, 2025, her coach’s gymnasium was attacked by some local vigilante members and policemen who came to arrest the coach, allegedly for giving support to Queen Acha.
They also arrested some other athletes in the gym, including Ngozi, who is Acha’s best friend. The police were said to have also went away with their computers possibly to search for more incriminating evidences against Acha while her coach believed to be spokesman in the same-sex community has been with the police.
Same-sex offence is now a high felonious offence in Nigeria as it carries no few than 14 years imprisonment on conviction. In some communities, a suspected same-sex lover faces the risk of being stoned to death by angry youths.
