Delta Police Re-arrest Self-Styled Activist Victor Ojei, Vow To Prosecute Him For Multiple Offences

Delta State born self acclaimed activist, Mr. Victor Ojei (a.k.a. Wong Box) is obviously living in troubled times as police in Delta State on Friday re-arrested him in connection with alleged multiple offences of assault occasioning harm, threat to life and threatening violence.

Police spokesperson Bright Edafe, a Superintendent of Police on Friday told ATLANTICNEWSONLINE that Ojei was earlier arrested on the 14th August 2025 for the multiple offences, contrary to Sections 355, 86, and 249 of the Criminal Code, and granted bail on the same date.

The suspect according to the Police Public Relations Officer later refused to show up at the police station for further investigation until the Delta State Police Command went all out on Friday to re-arrest him.

“It’s pertinent for the Command to state the fact as follows;

“On the 29th of May 2025, at about 1100hours, Staff of Benin Electricity Distribution Company (BEDC) went on official duty of disconnection of electricity supply from defaulting customers. On getting to the house of the suspect Victor Ojei (Wong box) at Anyameluhor street, Asaba, whose outstanding bill sums up to Four Million, Eight Hundred and Seventy Thousand, Seven Hundred and Eighty Naira (#4,870,780) the light was disconnected. The suspect, upon sighting the BEDC staff, rushed to them and attacked them with a cutlass, insisting that they must reconnect his compound.

“The technician, out of fear of being murdered by the suspect, reconnected the light. The suspect did not stop at that; he continued to threaten them, and in the process, a pregnant BEDC woman fell, and Victor Ojei charged at her with the cutlass.”

In the video obtained by the police (forwarded to ATLANTICNEWSONLINE, the suspect Victor Ojei was heard visibly shouting at the BEDC staff as the following took place:

  1. Why will they disconnect my house, he queried
  2. You don’t know where you came to? Did you ask questions?
  3. He ordered them to reconnect the light
  4. He called on one Maduka (surname unknown) to bring him an iron.
  5. That he will burst their head
  6. He said, ‘I GO CUT UNA’
  7. He went inside and brought out a cutlass, shouting, ‘I will cut you’
  8. He stated again while holding the cutlass ‘ I go cut you, and nothing go happen’
    He further stated that he is ‘Wong box of Delta state’, and next time, the BEDC staff should ask questions, stating that he will tell them that he is a ‘politician”.

The police spokesman also said that “it is pertinent to state that one of the BEDC staff members who was pregnant at the time of the incident was rushed to the hospital, where she was treated for over two weeks,”

Meanwhile, the State Commissioner of Police, Olufemi Abaniwonda has reiterated that “nobody is above the law, and the suspect is not an exception. The Command will ensure that the suspect Victor Ojei (a.k.a Wong box) is arraigned in court soonest having been re-arrested.”
