Delta Cult War: Detectives Restore Peace In Agharho, Arrest 11 Over Death Of Five Persons

Operatives of the Delta State Police Command have restored peace at Agharho in Ughelli North Local Government Area of the State after a bloody fight by members of two rival cult groups. Five persons were reportedly killed during the clash.

AtlanticNewsonline gathered that the cult clash between Eiye and Black axe confraternities in Agbarho, started on Sunday 6th February, 2022 and resulted in the death of five persons.

Delta State Commissioner of Police Ari Muhammed Ali, on receiving the information was said to have promptly directed the Command Anti-Cult Unit (SACU), Dragon Patrol Teams and Police Operatives from Agbarho Division to proceed to the said town with a view to ensuring that sanity was restored in the Community.

Consequently, the Divisional Police Officer Agbarho Division, CSP Sam Ogwa led the teams deployed on an intelligence-led operation during which eleven suspected cultists who actively participated in the cult clash that led to the death of five persons were arrested.

Two (2) Pump action guns, one (1) cut to size locally made gun, eight (8) expanded cartridges and ten rounds of live cartridges were reportedly recovered while the situation has been brought under control.

Delta Police spokesman DSP Bright Edafe said in a statement that more patrol teams have been deployed to forestall any further breakdown of law and order in the Community while manhunt for the other fleeing suspected cultists is ongoing.

Commissioner Ali, while calling on members of the public to help with any useful information that can lead to the arrest of the other fleeing suspects, has urged parents and guardians to monitor, guide and caution their wards to desist from any cult related activities as the Command under his watch would not relent in arresting anyone found wanting and ensuring that they are prosecuted accordingly.

He also warned that the Command was more than ever before determined to fulfil its core mandate of protecting lives and properties, maintenance of law and order among others and as such will not take it lightly with anybody who tries to cause mayhem of any kind in the state.
