Christmas Day Killing Of Lagos Lawyer Pains IGP, Orders Speedy Investigation

As Nigerians mourn the gruesome killing of a female lawyer Mrs. Omobolanle Raheem on Christmas day in Lagos,
the Inspector-General of Police (IGP) Usman Alkali Baba, has condemned the shooting and killing of the harmless woman, allegedly by a Policeman attached to Ajiwe Police Station, Ajah, Lagos State.

In a statement on Monday, Force Public Relations Officer, Ademuyiwa Adejobi, a Chief Superintendent of Police said the IGP who described the incident as unfortunate and

sad, has ordered speedy investigation and prosecution of the officers responsible for the ugly and unprofessional act, which did not portray the Nigeria Police Standard Operating Procedure and core values.

In the same vein, the police boss commiserated with the family,  friends, and colleagues of the deceased as he prayed for the repose of her soul. He further assured the general public of justice in the case while he warned officers and men of the Force to be professional and people-oriented in the discharge of their duties.

He advised them to always operate within the ambit of the law as the Force’s leadership will not condone any inappropriate or unprofessional acts.

The female lawyer was reportedly shot by a trigger happy policeman on her way home with her husband in their vehicle while returning home from Christmas church service. As at press time, it was not yet clear the circumstances that led to the shooting.
