MEET FRANK OSHANUGOR

As Ubulu-Uku in Aniocha South Local Government Area of Delta State has come under increasing attack by kidnappers, herdsmen and other criminal elements, President-General of Ubulu-Uku Kingdom Descendants Central Union (UDC) Mr. Peter Udene Ugbaja has declared his intention to collaborate with neighbouring communities to dislodge the criminal elements from the area.

Speaking at the annual conference of Ubulu-Uku ’82 Club at Ubulu-Uku on Easter Sunday, Ugbaja noted that the community has come under sustained attacks by external forces who intend to “displace our people from their heritage.”
According to him, “we have a solemn duty to protect our community at this time of serious threat not just to our people but the Enuani nation. We have to collaborate with other communities to fight a common enemy intent on driving us out of our lands and heritage. This must not happen,” he vowed.

He bemoaned the current crisis besetting leadership of the community and wondered why the Traditional Council of Chiefs should chose this time to antagonize the UDC and its youth wing the Ubulu-Uku Youth Development Council (UYDC).

He vowed that “if the Traditional Council of Chiefs opt to undermine the UDC and, by extension, Ubulu-Uku people as a corporate entity, we cannot submit to the whims and caprices of these external forces.”

Mr. Ugbaja who is also the outgoing National President of Ubulu-Uku ’82 Club used the opportunity to commend “those who through their actions, commitment and passion have become the pillars of Ubulu-Uku ’82 and by extension, of the community.”

He urged every club member to be part of the greater scheme of evolving a new leadership of the Club. “There is no other way than to be higher, faster and better. The progress of our community is intrinsically tied to the cohesiveness and progressiveness of Ubulu-Uku ’82,” he added.

One of the highlights of the annual conference was fund raising for the Club’s Library Complex which is expected to be completed in the nearest future. The gigantic one storey building apart from providing library space would also have Conference and event centres.
